Placing and Editing Ads

Q: How do I place an ad with autobuyersguide.com.au?
A: Placing an ad is easy. Firstly, click on the 'Place an Ad' link. You will then be presented with a 'log on' screen. If you have already registered your details, then fill in the fields 'User Name' and 'User Password.' If you have not already registered as a user, then click on the 'New User' button on that page. Once registered, place your user name and password into the appropriate box and follow the instructions.

Q: Do I need to register my details before I can place an ad?

Q: What details of mine will be displayed on the site?
A: We only display those items which you wish to have displayed. In any case, we will never display your email address on your ad. Potential buyers can email you however our state of the art security prevents anyone from finding out your details. This includes your address. If you wish to, you may display up to two phone numbers.

Q: Can I do a text only ad if I want to?
A: Of course you can! You can write up to 200 words of text in an ad. There is no need to add a photo, however, if at a later stage you wish to put one on your listing then you can! We give you space for up to four photos. We recommend you load a photo onto your listing whenever you can because a picture is worth a thousand words.

Q: I've placed an ad listing and I want to change something. How do I do this?
A: To edit an ad, log on, and then select the link 'My Ads.' Edit the listing and then click on the 'Submit' button to save your changes.

Loading Images

Q: I have a digital camera. How to I load the images onto my car listing?
A: Loading images from your digital camera will depend upon your individual make and model. If you do however save your images onto your computer, you may select your images by clicking the 'Browse' button within the 'Place and Ad' page.

Q: Is there a recommended size resolution that pictures should be when loaded to your site?
A: Yes. We suggest you save your pictures at about 72 DPI (dots per square inch). This is the ideal resolution to save your pictures for the internet. By doing this, you ensure that potential buyers can download the images on your ad quickly. You can do this with software such as Adobe Photoshop or Image Ready, Macromedia Fireworks, Microsoft Frontpage and many other imaging software. Q: What type of image is best to use for pictures on your site?
A: We suggest you use the .jpg format.

Q: What are the maximum measurements allowed for images of cars?
A: Your images should be no more than 300 pixels in width.

Q: I run a used car dealership. How do I get a free home page?
A: As a dealer you can list all of your used cars on your own home page. To do this, simply click the 'Sign Up' link whereby you will be provided with two choices. Dealer or Private. Click the 'Dealer' link and fill in the details of the form. Once you have filled out the form, you dealership will appear on the 'Find a Dealer' page. You may then start uploading your used car listings.

Q: I've already signed on as a dealer. How do I edit my dealer profile?
A: Log On by entering your username and password in the member login area then click 'submit.' You will then be taken to your Dealership page. In this area, click on the 'My Profile' link where you may change your details. Once you have finished your amendments, click 'submit' and your changes will be saved. You may then 'Sign Out' of your dealer page.
